Pafos lies on the southwest coast of the island and is sheltered from the north by the Troodos mountains. It has a temperate climate, one of the healthiest in the whole Mediterranean. The region of Pafos is composed of beautiful countryside and mountainous landscapes, historical sights – many of which belong to the official UNESCO list of cultural and natural treasures of the world's heritage – luxury resorts and a vibrant night life.
Pafos was voted as the European Capital of Culture for 2017 due to the cultural elements this historical city boasts.
