Many years have passed since Ayia Napa was just a quiet fishing village at the far eastern end of the southern coast of Cyprus, as today it is one of the most renowned tourist destinations in the world. Ayia Napa holds a raw yet unique natural beauty with several of the most spectacular golden-sand beaches in Cyprus.
Ayia Napa's vision is a long-term plan with 2030 as the milestone for it to become Europe's best and most cosmopolitan tourist resort – a resort that its visitors will enjoy, its business will prosper, and its citizens will be proud. Starting in 2013, the resort has implemented a series of actions in order to fulfil its vision.
Upgrades in infrastructure and the hospitality industry (hotels and restaurants) and shutting down establishments that created problems resulted in the city attracting mega projects such as the €250 million marina, whilst major events and festivals have been added to the calendar in order to reach the goal of increasing the quality of the tourist resort as well as promoting its cosmopolitan and quality aspects. The vision set by the city is supported by Cyprus National Tourism strategy.
